Top 5 books on my 2018 bucket list

After a little holiday break, Shanah’s back with the first Top 5 Tuesday of 2018.

We all know how easy it is to make a massive TBR list. Bookworms don’t need a lot of convincing to throw another title on there if it sounds even a little interesting. However, there’s a big difference between books on my TBR, and books that ABSOLUTELY HAVE TO READ THIS YEAR OR I WILL HOLD MY BREATH UNTIL I TURN BLUE!!

Invictus
by Ryan Graudin

Sea of Rust
by C. Robert Cargill

Nevernight

Fun fact about this post: Because of birthday and Christmas gifts, I now own a copy of each of these books, and therefore have NO EXCUSE for not reading them in 2018!

  1. As I’m sure you know, I absolutely approve of this list!!! The ones that I’ve read are some of my all time faves and the ones I haven’t read are on my immediate TBR as well! I know you’ll fall in love with Nevernight!
    Thanks for participating!

  2. A Darker Shade of Magic is on my list for this year, too. I kept meaning to read it, but then like 5 other books get in the way.

THERE’S TOO MANY BOOKS AND NOT ENOUGH TIME.

    1. I’m with you! The only thing that kept me from reading it last year was my extreme cheap nature! Every time I saw it in the book store, it was $27 or $28 (I like in the Canada where books require mortgages!) And that was for the paperback version! Now that I have it, there’s no more excuses. (except for the ARCs that I kind of need to get to ASAP)

        1. We’re used to more expensive books in Canada, but that’s the highest of the high I’ve seen. Most of the HARDCOVERS I look at don’t run that high!

          1. Maybe they jacked the price up because of it’s popularity? That really is a bit strange. Glad you finally got your hands on a copy though.

    1. That’s right! Now if work, and kids, and the dog, and THE WORLD would just leave me alone and let me read, I’d have no complaints! Lol

  3. Yes to Invictus Joe! I’ve been seeing this book everywhere in 2017. Great list 😉

    1. I haven’t even read the synopsis for Invictus. Ryan Graudin tweeted that it was a cross between Doctor Who and Firefly. That was all I needed to hear! LOL

  4. I plan on reading Invictus for the Popsugar Time Travel challenge so fingers crossed it’s as good as everyone else says it is. Hope you enjoy it 🙂

        1. Same! But I find it made me reach for the books that I wouldn’t be reaching for without the challenge. Stranger, I’m almost excited to have a reason to read the books I wouldn’t be choosing otherwise. Am I alone? A weirdo?

          1. Not alone at all. There are a lot of books that I’ve been meaning read and put off that fit the challenge and also books I would have never picked up before, too!
