Down the TBR Hole #6

Down The TBR Hole is a meme, hosted @ Lost in a Story, that revolves around cleansing your TBR of all those books you’re never going to read and sort through it all to know what’s actually on there.

It works like this:

  • Go to your goodreads to-read shelf.
  • Order on ascending date added.
  • Take the first 5 (or 10 (or even more!) if you’re feeling adventurous) books. Of course if you do this weekly, you start where you left off the last time.
  • Read the synopses of the books
  • Decide: keep it or should it go?

ALL SYSTEMS RED
by Marth Wells

This has been on my TBR for a while and it’s right up my alley. Combine that with hearing nothing but good things since it came out, this one is a no-brainer…

IT STAYS!

INKHEART
by Cornelia Funke

This one is too great of a concept to drop off my list. I loved the movie, even though it didn’t do well and they never made a sequel, so as far as this one goes…

IT STAYS!

IRON GOLD
by Pierce Brown

Ha! Do I even need to say anything with this one? It’s part of one of my favourite series, I already own a copy, and…

IT STAYS!

THE MAZE RUNNER
by James Dashner

Ugh. This one is tough. I’m not chomping at the bit for this one, but I can’t seem to cut it from my list. So, for now, tentatively…

IT STAYS!

SEA OF RUST
by C. Robert Cargill

Ahhhh. Recent winner of the Contest of Covers and possibly my favourite cover of all time (even though I haven’t read the book). This one is easy…

IT STAYS!

Fun fact about this post: Yikes! 5 books and no cuts. I guess that TBR isn’t getting smaller anytime soon…

Down the TBR Hole #5

Down The TBR Hole is a meme, hosted @ Lost in a Story, that revolves around cleansing your TBR of all those books you’re never going to read and sort through it all to know what’s actually on there.

It works like this:

  • Go to your goodreads to-read shelf.
  • Order on ascending date added.
  • Take the first 5 (or 10 (or even more!) if you’re feeling adventurous) books. Of course if you do this weekly, you start where you left off the last time.

Let’s see… the last time I did one of these was… 10 months ago?! Yikes. Hold onto your socks, I have no idea what we’re in store for.

Dragonflight by Anne McCaffrey

I’m not excited about this one the way I used to be, but I’ve heard (and been told) that it’s one of the BEST dragon books ever written. So it stays, for the moment anyway.

Armada by Ernest Cline

It stays. I already own the hardcover. Because of that, and because Ready Player One. So… yeah.

The Automatic Detective by A. Lee Martinez

The only book I read by Martinez was Monster. And it was okay, but I’m not sure I’ll ever get around to this one, even though it still sounds interesting to me. Just not sure it’s interesting enough to ever float to the top… Let’s cut it.

Crooked Kingdom by Leigh Bardugo

And that’s how long this book has been on my TBR! It stays, it stays. A thousand times, it stays!

The Mystic Arts of Erasing All Signs of Death by Charlie Huston

The premise of this one is really interesting, but then the plot that goes with it doesn’t really keep me excited. I’m afraid this one’s getting cut from the list as well.

2/5 book gone. Could be worse, could be better. Let’s hope it’s not another 10 months before I look to clean it up a little.

Fun fact about this post: Do NOT like the new wordpress editor. Not at all.

Down the TBR Hole #4

Down the TBR Hole was created by Lia @ Lost in a Story. It’s a great way to clean up your TBR list, or possibly re-ignite the excitement for some of those books you haven’t thought of for a while.

HOW IT WORKS

  • Go to your goodreads to-read shelf.
  • Order on ascending date added.
  • Take the first 5 (or 10 if you’re feeling adventurous) books
  • Read the synopses of the books
  • Decide: keep it or should it go?

More Than Human by Theodore Sturgeon

This is about a bunch of super-powered people that don’t know if they exist to help humanity or destroy it. ‘Nuff said. I don’t need to hear anything else.

IT’S STAYING!!

The Old Man and the Wasteland by Nick Cole

This book is directly tied to Hemingway’s Old Man and the Sea, which I love. The synopsis says the main character has a copy of the book and it’s his most prized possession. For that alone…

IT STAYS!!

Agent to the Stars by John Scalzi

I’ve only read one Scalzi book so far and, unfortunately, it left me unfulfilled. I haven’t given up on Scalzi. His books sound like they’re right up my alley. However, I’m don’t this is the one that will be my second Scalzi.

BE GONE!

Daemon by Daniel Suarez

I like the idea of techno-thrillers. I’ve always been a bit of a techie. However, I’ve read a few, and they never seem to really do that much for me. Daemon certainly doesn’t sound bad, but now that I re-read the synopsis, it doesn’t make me excited.

GO!!

Pump Six by Paolo Bacigalupi

I don’t read a lot of short stories, but that’s something that I want to change.

STAY IN THERE!

Two more off the list!!

Fun fact about this post: I haven’t been building my TBR for that long, and now I’m only looking at books I added 9 months ago!
