Non-readers?! That’s still a thing?
What would I recommend to someone who isn’t a reader? That’s a tough one, isn’t it?
“Hey, you! Do you like reading?”
“No. I hate it.”
“Read these books!”
“But, I just said I hat—”
*shoves books into Non-readers face*
“REEEEAAAAD!”
The Old Man and the Sea by Ernest Hemmingway There are a few reasons I would recommend this one. One, It’s a classic. If someone is only going to read a few books, they’d most likely love to be able to say, “I’ve read some of the classics.” And this one is short. A nice way to ease into reading. |
|
Ready Player One by Ernest Cline This book is just pure fun. With all the action and the 80s pop culture references, one could easily forget they’re doing something as lame as READING! |
|
Choke by Chuck Palahniuk Choke is funny and wildly inappropriate. The kind of thing Seth Rogen fans would love. |
|
Monster Hunter International by Larry Correia This one is like watching a senseless action movie fit to star Swartzenegger, Stallone, or even Jean-Claude VanDamme. |
|
The Average American Male by Chad Kultgen Just like Choke, this is inappropriate humor to the max. |
But there’s no cars in those books…… I don’t think your dad would like them! LOL Great list! A few of these I’ve never heard of so I’m going to have to check them out!
Thanks for participating – added you to the list 🙂
Try to find books with cars in them. It’s so hard. The Art of Racing in the Rain is the closest I could come up with and there still aren’t really cars in them. It just has a guy who wants to be a race car driver…
Hey! I did Ready Player One, too! I feel like it’s got enough pop culture in it that people who aren’t readers are kinda fooled into reading it, because they can actually connect with it. (That was a major struggle of a lot of people in high school/undergrad, when they told the teacher they didn’t understand it because they couldn’t connect with it.)
