This is a tough one for me. I hate not finishing things. Big ups to Shanah @ Bionic Bookworm for continuing to host one of my favourite weekly memes.
The Parker Series
I’m not sure this counts as a series. It’s more of a number of books with the same main character. I read the first one because one of my favourite movies ever was based on the first book in this series, The Hunter. This is one of those rare cases where I liked the movie A LOT more than the book…
Percy Jackson and the Olympians
Never say never, but I don’t think I’ll finish this one. I read a fair amount of YA, but I usually don’t feel like I’m reading something that’s “for kids”, but PJ makes me feel that way. Is it because it’s technically middle-school? Or maybe it’s because Percy is like 12 when the first book starts. I know Harry Potter was even younger, but for whatever reason, I just couldn’t connect with Percy Jackson.
A Song of Ice and Fire
I’m not sure ANYONE will finish this series. The date on book 6 has been pushed back and back and back. It’s expected 2020 at the moment, and book 5 was in 2011. So do we really think that book 7 (which I think is supposed to be the final) will be in 2021 when book 6 took 9 years?
Monster Hunter International
The first book was fun. Like reading a Jean Claude Van Damme movie, but for my personal taste, a little goes a long way, and there are 4 or 5 more books so far. I may end up reading another one somewhere down the line, but I can’t see myself ever finishing.
The Millennium Series
I read The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo when it was all the rage, and I fully intended on going through the other original 2, but it just never came to pass. This many years later, I don’t have much interest on reading the others. I can’t recall ever hearing a bad thing about either of them, but I can’t remember anything about them that makes me want to go back.
I stopped reading Percy Jackson too. I like an occasional Middle Grade read, but it just felt like it was going on and on. Pretty much, I’ve just lost interest.
I really enjoyed the Millennium series, but I think if I hadn’t read them all back to back in the space of a month it would have been hard to get back into them if I’d taken a break. They’re fun thrillers, but I can totally see why you’d lose interest in continuing!
I don’t think I’ll finish the Game of Thrones books either. I think I read the first three. They’re great! I love the characters and the politics, but it’s just so long! And there are so many perspectives!!! Maybe one day down the line when my kids grow up and move up (who am I kidding, Lincoln says he’s going to live with me forever)
Thanks for participating – added you to the list 🙂
Oh gosh, I agree that I don’t think anyone will be reading the rest of GOT- GRRM said this week that book 6 won’t be out in 2018 (as in not in the next 7 months!!!) And I’ll believe that book 7 will be out in 2021 when I see pigs flying.
Goodreads says 2020 for book 6, and 2021 for 7. Hard to believe either of those dates will happen
Oh saying 2020 for book 6 is just cruel 😉 but if we take them at their word, then we can expect 8 years between books, meaning 7 will be in 2028…. maybe 😉
I agree with you on some of these, I loved The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo but I really didn’t need any more than that.
I also didn’t finished The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo series and I didn’t finish the Miss Peregrine’s School of Unusual Children either
That’s okay. I didn’t even START the Unusual Children series. Didn’t seem like my kind of thing. Was never into Lemony Snicket, either.
