One Year Blogiversary… kind of

I’ve had the blog for more than a year, but it was aimless. It wandered around the desert of the internet, always seemingly about to die.

I could never figure out what to post about. I didn’t know what was worth writing. What people might want to read. I think my biggest mistake was not following a bunch of other blogs and seeing what active people were actually doing. 

Then… direction.

Book blogging! Not only did that give me a subject that I could write forever about, it led me to an amazing community of people that were all very much like me. Word nerds, book geeks, and suckers for stories.

This week marks 1 year since that direction came into my life (thanks, Shanah!) One year since my blog became active, occupied, visited, liked, followed, and one day maybe even interesting and relevant!

Things I’ve learned in the past year:

Getting followers is really, really hard!

I’ve seen other bloggers that have 10 times the followers I have within the same year of time. And I say, good for them. I’m not jealous at all.

Consistently Generating Content Can Be Tough

Some weeks, posts just seem to jump out at me, and suddenly I’m looking at which days I should put up 2 posts. Other weeks, I can’t seem to find a thing, and everything seems like a bad idea.

Scheduling Posts is the Best Thing Ever

…and this one for Wednesday, and that one on Friday. There! Not to sit back and do nothing. (nothing = blog hop, respond to comments, and try not to obsess over “stats”)

Book Bloggers are the Absolute Best!

Such an incredible and supportive group. Most of you reading this already know, but anyone who doesn’t, I can’t explain it to you. It’s one of those things that you have to experience to believe.

I could go on and on, but you guys already know all of this. So just let me say THANK-YOU to everyone who’s been following along with me over the past year. I’ve been having a blast, and I can’t wait to write my 2-year anniversary post!
