Welcome to another First Impression Friday. In case this is your first time, here’s the rundown:
• Based on this sampling of your current read, give a few impressions and predict what you’ll think by the end.
• Did you think you’d love and ended up hating it? Or did you think you’d hate it and wound up loving it? Or were you exactly right?
• Link back to Storeys of Stories so I can enjoy reading all the First Impression Fridays out there!
Let’s talk about Foundryside by Robert Jackson Bennett.
The opening chapter drew me right in. Edgy main character in the middle of a heist. She’s got all kinds of tools that are fantasy based, but still somehow realistic, besides the obvious magical properties and being able to “talk” to inanimate objects.
And let me tell you about the magic system I’ve seen thus far. It seems like a great system combining magic with logic and physics. Another example of science and magic being presented together instead of as opposites. I dig it. More of this.
My Prediction: 4 stars or higher
Well Joe this one seems pretty interesting! Sorry I only posted today ….
I am about 27% into this book and enjoying it so far – Clef is a gem! I had to put it aside because I am a little burned out on fantasy right now and felt it wouldn’t get an honest opinion from me if I pushed through it, but I look forward to going back to it soon!
I know the feeling. I’m a bit burned on fantasy at the moment as well, though I’ll probably push through and finish this one before getting into anything else.
Good luck with your reads!!!
Thanks! You too
