First Impression Friday | Foundryside by Robert Jackson Bennett

Welcome to another First Impression Friday. In case this is your first time, here’s the rundown:

• Based on this sampling of your current read, give a few impressions and predict what you’ll think by the end.
• Did you think you’d love and ended up hating it? Or did you think you’d hate it and wound up loving it? Or were you exactly right?
• Link back to Storeys of Stories so I can enjoy reading all the First Impression Fridays out there!

Let’s talk about Foundryside by Robert Jackson Bennett.

The opening chapter drew me right in. Edgy main character in the middle of a heist. She’s got all kinds of tools that are fantasy based, but still somehow realistic, besides the obvious magical properties and being able to “talk” to inanimate objects.

And let me tell you about the magic system I’ve seen thus far. It seems like a great system combining magic with logic and physics. Another example of science and magic being presented together instead of as opposites. I dig it. More of this.

My Prediction: 4 stars or higher

Fun fact about this post: I ended up buying a e-trilogy yesterday and it wasn’t until after the purchase that I realized IT WAS THE SAME AUTHOR!
