First Impression Friday | The Echo Room

Welcome to another First Impression Friday. In case this is your first time, here’s the rundown:

• Based on this sampling of your current read, give a few impressions
and predict
what you’ll think by the end.
• Did you think you’d love and ended up hating it? Or did you think
you’d hate it and wound up loving it? Or were you exactly right?
• Link back to Storeys of Stories so I can enjoy reading all the
First Impression Fridays out there!

I’ve missed a few weeks, and I can honestly say, I really did MISS them. Enough about that. Let’s talk about The Echo Room by Parker Peevyhouse.

“Rett wakes on the floor of a cold, dark room. He doesn’t know how he got there, only that he’s locked in. He’s not alone—a girl named Bryn is trapped in the room with him. When she finds a mysterious bloodstain and decides she doesn’t trust Rett, he tries to escape on his own—

Rett wakes on the floor of the same cold, dark room. He doesn’t trust Bryn, but he’ll have to work with her if he ever hopes to escape. They try to break out of the room—

Rett and Bryn hide in a cold, dark room. Safe from what’s outside.

But they’re not alone.”

This book creates a lot of questions. Every time I think I’m about to get an answer, it’s usually just another question. All the while, there’s an overall sinister feeling developing that almost makes me reluctant to turn the page. Almost.

I can’t say I’ve connected with either of the characters too much yet (I’m only 50 pages in) but I keep turning pages because I just want to know WHAT THE HECK IS GOING ON HERE?!?

My Prediction: 3.5 to 4 stars

Fun fact about this post: Still feeling really overwhelmed and behind on getting back into the swing of things. Here’s hoping next week is a little more normal.
