Down The TBR Hole is a meme, hosted @ Lost in a Story, that revolves around cleansing your TBR of all those books you’re never going to read and sort through it all to know what’s actually on there.
It works like this:
- Go to your goodreads to-read shelf.
- Order on ascending date added.
- Take the first 5 (or 10 (or even more!) if you’re feeling adventurous) books. Of course if you do this weekly, you start where you left off the last time.
- Read the synopses of the books
- Decide: keep it or should it go?
Let’s see… the last time I did one of these was… 10 months ago?! Yikes. Hold onto your socks, I have no idea what we’re in store for.
Dragonflight by Anne McCaffrey
I’m not excited about this one the way I used to be, but I’ve heard (and been told) that it’s one of the BEST dragon books ever written. So it stays, for the moment anyway.
Armada by Ernest Cline
It stays. I already own the hardcover. Because of that, and because Ready Player One. So… yeah.
The Automatic Detective by A. Lee Martinez
The only book I read by Martinez was Monster. And it was okay, but I’m not sure I’ll ever get around to this one, even though it still sounds interesting to me. Just not sure it’s interesting enough to ever float to the top… Let’s cut it.
Crooked Kingdom by Leigh Bardugo
And that’s how long this book has been on my TBR! It stays, it stays. A thousand times, it stays!
The Mystic Arts of Erasing All Signs of Death by Charlie Huston
The premise of this one is really interesting, but then the plot that goes with it doesn’t really keep me excited. I’m afraid this one’s getting cut from the list as well.
2/5 book gone. Could be worse, could be better. Let’s hope it’s not another 10 months before I look to clean it up a little.
I just ranted about the new editor on my blog. You can revert back to the old one!
THANK YOU, Tammy. Just looked up how to do it. So glad to have the classic back.
I completely agree! I tried to make it work, I really did but I had to switch back because UHG it was an awful experience. Glad I am not the only one who felt that way!
I’m glad it’s not just me too! Now if I can just figure out how to make gallery work…
To me, Armada was a disappointing read, but perhaps my expectations were high because of RPO. Here’s a funny detail: I know A. Lee Martinez from a writers group. I’ve critiqued some of his chapters and the like but haven’t read any of his novels. And I guess I should? Maybe?
I have Armada too and just need to find time to read it! Maybe over the holidays 🙂
Ooo! This sounds fun! Also, I don’t like the new editor either!
Crooked Kingdom has been on my TBR FOREVER too haha. And the new editor is AWFUL! I switched back to the old one! Hopefully they realize that literally noone likes it and they re-do it!
You have to read Crooked kingdom ASAP! It’s so good!
