First Impression Friday | The Martian by Andy Weir

Welcome to another First Impression Friday. In case this is your first time, here’s the rundown:

• Based on this sampling of your current read, give a few impressions and predict what you’ll think by the end.
• Did you think you’d love and ended up hating it? Or did you think you’d hate it and wound up loving it? Or were you exactly right?
• Link back to Storeys of Stories so I can enjoy reading all the First Impression Fridays out there!

People have been threatening to physically harm me when they hear I haven’t read The Martian by Andy Weir.

I saw the movie (and loved it) and I’ve read Artemis (and loved it) so I guess it’s about time.

30-40 pages in, I’m loving it so far. Mark Watney’s humour and attitude makes me feel like Jazz Bashara (from Artemis) has a older brother. He’s a little more mature (but only a little) and I little more science-y, but you can tell they’re family.

I’m predicting an easy 4-star with a good chance of a 5-star.

Fun fact about this post: Anytime I write anything connected to Andy Weir, it makes me go and read The Egg. Amazing Story. If you haven’t read it, go now: http://www.galactanet.com/oneoff/theegg_mod.html
